I would like to thank all of the
members who have indicated that they will be making a contribution to the
scholarship fund for the 2010 conference. If other members wish to donate
to the scholarship fund, they should contact me as soon as possible.
Graduate students presenting at the December 2010 conference must be nominated by a member by November 1, 2010 to be eligible for a scholarship. Letters of nomination should be sent to:

Students involved in a conference session, either as a presenter or reactor, may be nominated. Nominees are expected to submit an electronic version of a Power Point slide presentation consisting of 6 – 10 slides. The Power Point presentation should include a photo of the nominee and a statement of the purpose of the presentation. Each Power Point slide should have a running head of the nomineeŐs name. The nominees are expected to submit an article on their session or a reaction to another session, following the procedures established for the ARF Yearbook. Acceptance of the article for publication is not a condition of eligibility for scholarship recipients.
This year the 2010 Call for
Proposals provides a Graduate Student Research Proposal Form with a deadline of
October 1, 2010. If you have a graduate student who applies either under this
provision or under the regular deadline for proposals, I will need to have your
nomination by November 1, 2010.
Each scholarship recipient will be
selected according to the ratings obtained on the blind reviews of his/her
session proposal and receipt of nomination letter from an ARF member. If
a student is unable to attend the conference, the next attending student on the
list will receive the scholarship.
It is the expectation that the
reactor receives a draft of the scholarship recipientŐs paper at least one week
prior to the conference and that the member who nominates the student will
mentor and then verify to the chair of the Scholarship Committee that these
requirements have been met.
Mentoring/Research Exchange
Session
Students wishing to participate in
the mentoring/research exchange sessions during the 2010 conference should
notify me (see the address, email and numbers above) by November 1, 2010 so
that appropriate arrangements can be made. Students do not have to be
scholarship recipients to attend this session.
